Cerro da Vila Archaeological Site
Time Schedule
Opening hours: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm / 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Cerro da Vila Archaeological Station, in Vilamoura, is a historical record of the successive civilizations that settled in this area of the Algarve and here remained for nine centuries, namely Romans, Visigoths and Arabs.
At the Archaeological Station you can see the ruins of a Villa (luxury country house) which, judging by its dimensions, traces of exuberant decoration and the existence of private baths, seems to have been quite important. The remains of other large-scale buildings can also be seen on Cerro da Vila, the “Public Bathhouses”.
In addition to the Villa and the “Public Bathhouses”, the remaining structures of two smaller houses, warehouses, the foundations of a port structure and a funerary tower are known today.

The Archaeological Station includes its own museum.
